Bakery we take custom orders for a future date

As a Bakery we take custom orders for a future date. Is there any way for us to schedule orders into the future and see them on a weekly, monthly basis for reporting ?

@sweetgoodness  Yes!

For in store preorders, you can enable Orders from the Point of Sale.

More -> Settings -> Orders -> Order Creation -> Enable. (this will only work if you're not using Dining Options)

Now, whenever you need to place a preorder, ring the item up as usual, but hit the Schedule button before payment. You'll enter the customer's name and desired pickup or delivery time. Then cash out the order as usual. That order will now show on the Orders section of your Point of Sale.

For online preorders, you can do this too:

With any upgraded website plan, you will see the option to assign preorder status to each item. It's about 2/3 the way down the item editor window. With preorder, you can choose pickup dates, fulfillment windows, and cutoff dates. On the site, each preorder item will have a little banner saying "Preorder for [date]". When customers order these items, it'll show up on your Orders section of Point of Sale with the desired pickup date listed.

I will say the one downfall currently with preorders is there is no production report available. You can manually count up your orders but there's nothing to print. Usually what I did to get past that for me was to print out the order ticket when it was ordered and hang it on one of my fridge doors sorted by pickup date. Tedious but doable.

Hope this helps!

Does this work with the free POS plan or do we need to pay for restaurant one ( just because you mentioned dining?)

Hi there, @sweetgoodness - Great question. You can follow the steps that @ryanwanner mentioned in the standard Square Point of Sale. No need to have Square for Restaurants or pay for a subscription 🙂
