Are there any Constant scan barcode scanner

in the interest of speed at the register I would like a barcode scanner, whose laser always stays on. I bought one of the zebra scanners with a stand, thinking it would do the trick, but unfortunately, I am still required to pull the trigger each time I want the laser to turn on. We are a small enough business to still need an excellent support system like Square has but large enough in volume to wish for as many time-saving tactics as possible.

We only scan 2-D UPC style barcodes.

Yes, Square has a couple of different options for "constant on" scanners, and they can be found here - https://app.squareup.com/shop/hardware/v2/us/en/products/accessories

The "2-D Corded" bar code scanner will constantly scan when set in it's cradle.  There is also a new "hands free" scanner that was recently introduced for Square as well.  I'm using both and they are both working as expected.

You may have to Program your scanner to be constantly on.  Most come configured to press the trigger and not constantly on.  I am not sure which Zebra Scanner you have but they 2 I have, did not come with all the scanning codes.  Just the normal Reset and a few others that I do not remember right off hand. Try looking at Zebra Support for help on this.

Again since I am not sure of your Specific model here is a page from Zebra with a barcode to enable Continual Scanning, will it work on your model??  I have tried different Programming barcodes for mine and some for different models do work and others do nothing as far as I can tell.  Worst I found was, I need to reset my scanner to factory.

Also in the Zebra support area I was able to download a PDF version of my scanners (ds2208 and ds6878 models) full instruction manual with programming instructions and barcodes for my scanners. Maybe your current model is compatible with always scanning it is just not enabled by the Programming barcodes.
