I just purchased the Square Register gen2, as well as the newest Star TSP143IV printer, in hopes of speeding up credit card processing and receipt printing. My register is connected via Ethernet over a 1gig FTTP connection, and the printer is connected direct via USB.
This setup is behaving exactly like my old Star printer and gen1 register. In effect, when a credit card is approved and I see the Approved message on the customer display, it still takes 3 seconds for the receipt to print. I have my receipts printing automatically to ensure efficiency, but all the money I just spent appears to be for no gain. Is this truly as good as it gets? Is everyone seeing a 3-second delay like me? I've replaced everything, made sure all configs are correct, and it's not my network. This is driving me insane, especially on busy days!
This setup behaves the same way for cash transactions. In addition, my shop has dual WAN capability. I've tried both ISP's, as well as a hotspot on my phone to isolate network issues, and there is no change. I'm convinced this is yet another Square firmware issue, but I wanted to check with the community just in case I missed something.
