Any way to accumulate transactions before running a POS charge?

We are a pottery studio, looking to weigh pieces before glaze firing and charging $1 a pound for firing. We would like to accumulate that information and just charge once a month to a stored credit card for our members. Is there a way to do that using Square POS and a scale? Or are we required to charge every time a piece is weighed?

Hello @TCLA !

This is definitely something you can accomplish!

First, about the saved information. You'll need to enable Open Tickets on your point of sale.

On your device, go to More -> Settings -> Open Tickets. You'll probably need to install the addon. Now, when you determine the pricing for one of your orders, you can save the ticket. I recommend using the customer's name for this. The Save Ticket button will be right next to the Charge button.

Each time you need to add to the order, ring in the new item, choose Save Ticket, find the customer's name, and save again. Easy!

Now, for the saved card information. You can set up customer cards on file right from your point of sale. Check out this help file for the full details. You may need to upgrade to Customers Pro for this to be available.

Even if you don't have their card information saved, you can always invoice the customer at the end of the month right from your device too. Use the Invoice payment type and send it to their email.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for a quick answer!!! I've been knocking on the Square support door for a week now with no answer. One more - if I attach a receipt printer, can I print out a copy of the ticket at the time they weigh their pieces?

@TCLA You’re quite welcome! I’m glad I could help. 🙂

You definitely can use a receipt printer to print a bill, but the process is a little more convoluted:

-Open the ticket/create a new ticket

-Add any new items to the ticket

-Save the ticket

-Reopen the ticket

-Tap the three dots in the upper right, choose Print Bill

-Save the ticket again to close it.

Hope this works for you!
