Wanting to add a Barcode Scanner to my Square Register. Not sure which is better. The USB barcode scanner at $99 or the more expensive bluetooth barcode scanner......is it worth the extra cost? Opinions appreciated
@Candlestore
It’s the Tera 5100(2.4G) it’s black with orange trim.

Tera makes a 2d scanner that has teal trim in place of the orange trim. We use it with the square stand, I just checked Amazon and it is not listed anymore. I’ll be home Monday night and I will get the model number for you.
We originally used the bluetooth barcode scanner but had a bunch of reliability/connectivity issues and switched to the usb LS2208 for Square Registers and never looked back. No programming, inexpensive, durable. We used them at 7 locations on 13 Registers. Never had a single issue.
We use a 30.00 Tera usb Scanner from Amazon. Square sees it as a Honeywell Xenon 1900. It connect every time and works great
@rtfulk ;
Which Model Tera Scanner do you use? I tried the Tera D6100 and it does not connect with Square.

Thanks for letting me know, that exact model will not work for me since it is only a 1D and I need the 2D barcode scanners for my application but appreciate the response.
This Tera Model does NOT work with Square Stand and USB:

Thank you, Currently I have been using a Zebra 6878 2D scanner which works fine but disconnects from my stand a few times a day. I just unplug it and plug the USB base back in and then its fine. My other Zebra 6878 2D scanner and Square Stand never has this issue.
We use the Motorola LS Series scanners. They are tough, cheap, easy to get ahold, just go on ebay. Buy new batteries and keep them in stock. We use them all day for registers, inventory and all sorts of stuff. One breaks or goes dead, take a spare and scan it to the base and away you go in less than 30 seconds.
These are USB wired into the square register, but up top they are BT. Get the charging base and put them on that overnight. Never have a problem. Consistent as well.
If you have any questions, reach out.
@Candlestore The 1D and 2D scanner is model number Tera T5100.
