I use Square for Restaurants. I have One stand for entering orders, running credit cards and is connected to the cash drawer. I have one stand for taking orders and running credit cards and is NOT connected to a cash drawer and I have a separate Ipad for taking orders only.
Here's my dilemma: I only want to be able to take cash at the stand that is connected to the cash drawer. You can take cash at the other pos spots and it has to stop. The servers can cash out their tables at a pos not connected to the cash drawer and then pocket the money. I won't know at night until the cash drawer comes up short.
Thanks for your help!
@Shrimpyramine I think what you are running into is that only having 1 printer and your cash drawer is driven by the printer (more than likely). When 2 tablets can both see the single printer, when they use cash it kicks the drawer out automatically.
I think what you need is under the reports sections ---> payment methods ----> Then at the top select the day and location ----> display by device -----> filter by team member.
This will give you the option to see what team members are doing on what devices. Just select the device and see if any cash transactions were taken, and you can also just look at each team member to see if someone is taking cash and weren't assigned to that register.
Best practices is only one person in a cash till at a time. period. end of story. It is the only way you can hold one person accountable for cash short/over. But if each team member has their own pin under team management, you can track this down very quickly and eliminate the problem.
