discount for customers who bring their own coffee up

Hi - I'm trialling Square at the minute and I must say I'm not finding the set-up very user friendly

I need a modifier that applies a €0.20 discount to a coffee only when the customer has their own cup. This is a discount that is sale specific so an automatic discount cannot be used

On our current app we just hit a button and it takes 20cent off.

Hey @Noshington - if you set up a 20c discount then I think it should appear when you click on the item when it's in the cart. This is the way to add a discount to an item rather than the sale. It'll also show on the modifier page if you've not got your items set to add directly to the cart. 

An alternative is to set up a variable amount discount that can be added to the entire sale.

The other way many users have used is to set variations, so your single coffee product has a regular and an 'own cup' variation that is priced accordingly. This is also a great way to track how many people are bringing their own cups as it will show in your reporting.

It's currently not possible to create a modifier with a negative amount. However, I think it's a great idea, and it would definitely benefit a lot of our sellers. Feel free to share your feedback on the Ideate board.

I've just been reading this and as far as I'm aware, it's not possible to set up an individual discount that will be taken off when clicking on the item in the cart. If that makes sense.

As far as I'm aware, it's only possible to use discounts on the whole sale. But if I am mistaken, please let me know because it drives me insane being unable to discount individual items without having to add them to a variable discount.

In my case, it's for clothing but the outcome is pretty much the same.
