Workaround for Online-Only Items and Modifiers

We currently use Square for our Cafe. I have created an online site so that we can allow for online orders.
Only issue is we have things attached to all of our coffee items - ie. Cup types, table numbers etc for dine in orders.
Is my only option to create new duplicate items for the online site which do not have these things attached?

Hi @SasidaCafe, nice to see some new faces in Square Community!

You're actually spot on! The most straightforward solution is to create duplicate versions of your coffee items specifically for your online site, with dine-in modifiers removed.

Here’s how you can do it:

1. Create online-specific versions of key items with streamlined or no modifiers.

2. Assign them to an online-only category so they don’t appear or get mixed up with in-person items at the point of sale.

3. Adjust item visibility to exclude your in-store items from appearing on your Square Online site.

This setup helps you keep things clean and easy to manage for both your team and your customers.

Hopefully we’ll see expanded functionality in the future to better support multi-platform management but in the meantime, this should give you a solid workaround to get started right away.
