Why can't I name my open tickets?

On Saturday (1/31) we noticed that when we started a new tab it automatically saved as a number. We had to manually go in and edit the tab to save as the customer's name. Did something change? When did this change? This step adds extra time to the order and seems really backwards!

Hi @starviewwine, thank you for reaching out!

 

I had our Account Services team take a look over this and it does look like this a simple setting that you can adjust.

 

Here are some directions on how to do so:

  1. Open your point of sale app.
  2. Go to Settings and then Checkout.
  3. From here you should see the option Order Tickets. Please select it.
  4. Then from the options, select Auto-assign ticket numbers.

You also are able to create Ticket Groups, as well, which may be helpful for you:

  1. Open your point of sale app.
  2. Tap ≡ More > Settings > Open Tickets.
  3. Tap Create Ticket Group.
  4. Enter a name for the group, such as Dining Room. Note: Predefined ticket names that are already in use cannot be recreated until after they are either closed or converted into a custom ticket.
  5. Select a ticket naming option:
    • Automatic Ticket Names: Tickets created from and assigned to this group will automatically be named after the group name you entered, such as Dining Room 1, Dining Room 2, etc.
    • Custom Ticket Names: You can name each ticket manually.
  6. Assign a number of predefined ticket names to the group.
  7. Tap Save.
