What have they done to the Item interface???

I returned from vacation to discover that Square has completely changed the interface for items. When creating a new item, I no longer can add an option (e.g. color) and select individual colors from a drop down. It now autofills every color I have ever added and the only way to narrow down to the one or two colors I am looking for is by MANUALLY DELETING all the other colors. There are so many other changes that make NO SENSE. I know I wasn't informed by Square that this was happening, I certainly was not invited to provide any feedback on the changes they were proposing. Who made the decision that this was better for the store?? It makes my job as inventory manager far more time consuming. It's like going from a MAC to being told I need to learn DOS. Please respond to my comment if you are having similar frustrations.

Hi, @citrineca .

You’re absolutely right that the new experience now auto-populates all saved options (like every color or size ever used). Currently, there isn’t a way to filter or select only a few from that list when creating new items 😣 The system remembers all previously used options.

Square's product team is actively reviewing feedback from sellers about these changes, and your experience, particularly around the difficulty of narrowing down options and managing variations, is exactly the kind of insight they need to hear. (Trust me, I send them all of these

Here’s what you can do right now as a workaround:

  • You can create a new option set (for example, “Current Colors”) and only include the specific variations you want to use for new items. This can help you avoid the large autofill list until improvements are made.

I wish I could provide better solutions right now, but I hope this helps.
