Uploads of Item Library Creates Unwanted Variations

I download the item library to a spreadsheet to do inventory, adjust numbers in the spreadsheet, and then upload it back to Square. When I do that, it creates a new useless item variation for a ton of products. Is there a quick way to remove all the new variations? Is there a way to upload the library without adding those variations without losing the variations that I do need?

Hey there, @boothhardy

Looks like something isn't working right with your bulk uploads. Let's see what we can do to improve your experience. But first, bulk removal. To bulk remove items, in the Square Dashboard (desktop):

  1. Click on the Check Boxes that appear next to the item names on all the applicable items that you may want to remove. Screenshot 2026-01-15 at 5.01.24 PM.png
  2. After that you will want to click the Actions Button that will appear on the bottom right corner.

  3. Lastly Delete the items.

Now to try and identify if this is a bug on your bulk uploads. Something I can recommend is exporting your current inventory, then making a single change (add a new item, modify a quantity) and confirming if the duplicates get created again after uploading.

I will keep an eye out on your reply here.
