Just to help me investigate this further, do you know what the current tip distribution setting is for the restaurant? Is it set to tip directly, or tip pool?
From what I have gathered so far, Square Online sales are not attributed to a specific team member. So if tip pooling is on, tips from online orders will pooled accordingly.
If the restaurant has selected tipping directly, then the tip will remain unattributed, and the account owner should have the option to distribute this.

Do you happen to have a screenshot of where they would see the unattributed tips? or where they can find these tips on their dashboard?

@tranguyen is correct. Online orders aren't associated with any team member so the tip remains unattributed if you are tipping directly. These tips can be seen if you go to the Team Sales report and look at the row for Untracked Team Members.
We are working to deliver a new setting that allows you to pool these unattributed tips even when you are tipping directly. When turned on, the system will split the unattributed tips equally amongst all tip eligible team members that were clocked-in during that workday. We are targeting early Q2 for this update.
