Unannounced System Upgrades and Changes - Oct 11

I write this post primarily to raise awareness to the users that they may run into changes in how the Square for Retail Register system works today, and at the same to to point out to Square that it is NOT appreciated to make platform changes without announcing the changes beforehand nor explaining what has changed after the fact.

 

I can not say exactly what has changed however I notice that when on the Register and have an open cart, if I go to search for an item (search bar), the search bit seems very different. I seems to bring up a split-screen type of thing with the cart on one side and a search window on the left. Because of the way it works, I have found that multiple times today I have inadvertently not added items to cart when I thought I had -- it seems to require multiple touches/selections in order to actually add the items to the cart.

 

Anyhow, I am sure that there are other changes, however it seems that it will be up to us, the users, to figure them out.

 

My Register says Version 6.53sw.

I have escalated your feedback to the Square for Retail Product Team. They've asked if you could please share a video of your checkout flow so they can get a better understanding of what this looks like on your end.
