Trouble uploading new items from Excel Spreadsheet

As title I am having trouble uploading Excel spreadsheets with updated/new items.

Keep getting the "Unable to read Excel file" message and not sure what exactly I am doing incorrectly

Just testing at the moment and have managed to upload around 60 items from scratch.

Have exported the existing item list in Excel format and having many unsuccessful attempts at re-importing the changes I resorted to just adding one extra item, but still getting the error message, and I've no idea what the actual issue is.

Would appreciate any help as we need to go live in a week or so

Thanks

Hi @andywhy.

Sorry to hear you're running into this.

The first step here would be to take a look at our article Import Items Online and ensure you are following the steps in order.

Then there are some points to double-check, the tiniest detail can disrupt the upload:

  • The maximum amount of rows per import is 30k.
  • Use ctrl + f to search the document and see if there are any random commas in the doc, if there are, delete them.
  • Ensure the file is Excel (.xlsx) file format and don't make any changes to the file name.
  • Ensure you haven't removed any tokens from the downloaded template.
  • Ensure there are no duplicate items or variations in the file.

If you have double-checked everything from the article and my tips and you are still receiving an error, it would be best to check in directly with our customer support team. They have access to your account and will be able to go through troubleshooting with you in real-time.

Please let me know how it goes and if you figure out what's causing this error, this would be really helpful for other sellers.
