Trouble Importing Inventory

I'm trying to bulk delete items via exporting and importing excel sheets. I've exported my inventory and deleted a few items to test. I deleted the rows the items were in on the items tab in the sheet with microsoft excel for mac osx. When I went to import this sheet back in (I had the overwrite inventory on), it said there was 1 error. I downloaded the error report and couldn't find where the error occurred. Where am I going wrong here? Is there information that I need to be deleting more than just what's on the items tab in excel?

Update: I found the single error. It was on a component item that has several items attached to it. Are we just not able to reimport these if we have them in inventory? Seems like a pretty big oversight. The error said that it was unstockable.

How were you downloading and Importing the file?

I have learned that when I download the catalog as a CSV file, but had some Items that Have a Component, I need to download the File as an Excel File and save as a Excel.xlsx file not a CSV file.  The xlsx save multiple pages of a spreedsheet whereas the csv only save one sheet of an excel file.   This could be the issue?

I was exporting to an excel file, editing in excel, and importing it back. I didn't try .csv I only had one bundled component item that we don't have in stock anymore so I just got rid of it in the dashboard and had no issues exporting/importing. It would be nice if that feature worked though.

I am not sure what the Check is when Importing but have noticed when I export as Excel I have 3 Sheets in the workbook, when I export as csv there is only 1 sheet.  I looked at the 2 other sheets and know they match to an item for some reasons but not sure what the import looks for to make sure its all good to import.  If you exported as Excel.xlsx file and saved as a xlsx file to import you should have been fine.  My issues are more related to when I export as XLSX and then delete the rows with an item in the 2nd or 3rd sheet of a workbook.  Something like no item found for the components.   Usually I download a few items and just import what I am updating so its quicker.  Copy the header rew and the few items I need to up date to a new sheet, save the sheet as a csv and then upload the new saved sheet only.  I am glad you got it to wok tho.
