Tracking refunds

I issued a refund last week for a client for an accidental charge and the last 4 digits were different to her card number on the receipt page, they were using Maybe Apple Pay? Is this a security measure or scam?   Still no refund has come through to her account and I can’t track the progress either.

Hey @marie55,

Thanks for writing in to the Seller Community!

When a payment is made with ApplePay, each transaction will show a different card number, to the card number your customer would see on their physical card - this is a safety measure on digital cards.

Refunds may take up to seven business days to be processed. While we're not able to look into transactions via this public forum, you can reach out to our support team if your customer hasn't received their refund within this time frame.

You can call support on 1800 760 137 (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm Melbourne time), or contact us via online chat or email:

1. Sign in to your Square account

2. Head to our contact page https://squareup.com/help/au/en/contact

3. Click on any topic, then "I don't see my issue"

4. Click "Message us" or "Email us"

Or, if you see the new chatbot help flow, type "support" to bring up a list of contact methods.
