Surcharge for increased wages

I am looking to add a 3% surcharge to the total sales at my restaurant and would like to know how to set it up on my square. this is not for credit card fees.

there is not a way to automatically add one.  you can create a variably priced item and then calculate it, or you can simply raise your prices so there isn't confusion of a surcharge at checkout.

Thanks. But I need a line item that specifies 3% on the subtotal as it will go to my employees. I think I might have to set it up as a tax but state on the receipt what it is for. Many restaurants are doing this because of the government mandated minimum wage increases.

Thanks for clarifying that, @bagra. I think you are on the right track. Setting up this charge as a percentage tax would be the easiest way to accomplish what you are looking to do. It's important to remember that there are some specific guidelines for surcharges by state - you can learn more about this here.
