Surcharge & Discount

Is there any way to add an automatic 3% surcharge when customers choose to pay with credit card or any digital wallet during checkout?

Or to do this in another method: Is there a way to give customers an automatic 3% discount when customers choose to pay with cash?

Hello @felixc !

At this time adding a credit card surcharge to your transactions is against Square's Terms and Conditions. Rules from the card companies and the government prohibit surcharges on debit cards. Since Square currently doesn't have a way to differentiate between a credit and debit card, it was best to block the surcharges altogether.

You've hit the nail on the head though: cash discounting is a definite option, one Square actually recommends in this scenario. At this moment, though, I haven't found a way to put an automatic discount on a specific tender type. Your best bet is to have a note somewhere by the register reminding you of the discount.  If you'd like to see that as an option, I recommend heading over to the Ideate section of this board and submitting a feature request.
