Subscription payment link does not work

I have set up a monthly subscription plan for an item that costs $28 with a 20% discount.  The item is live on my Square website...however, I want to offer the payment link for the subscription on my website.  Whenever I click the payment link and copy it to my website, it tells me that the page cannot be found and to check the link again.  Again, I do not want to add the subscription to the square site.  Is there a way around this?

We’ve outlined the steps for adding subscriptions to your Square Online site in this Support Article. At the moment, this is the only supported method for offering subscriptions tied to items in your online store.

Currently, Square doesn’t support setting up subscriptions via Payment Links or embedding subscription links directly on websites.
