When receiving a category of items, for example "dress shirt," which my business carries in several colors and sizes, I am trying to find a simple way to adjust quantities of certain color at a time.
At moment, I open the dress shirt category and I am given the entire group...all colors and sizes. I am having to scan up and down left and right to find the right sku to adjust for inventory. Being able to narrow it down to a color would limit the group significantly to view easily.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks!
Just make a category Dress Shirt
Then make an item of the color of dress shirt
Blue Dress Shirt
the item Blue Dress shirt would then have Variations of that blue dress shirt in your case a variation for each size.
When I receive an item or better yet make a purchase order, all I do is type in the vendor code i established for that item and they will all come up, i scroll to the color and select the proper size.
If there is multiple sizes in the same color, square has built in a memory point that when you add another item it shows up where you left off. For example all my colors come up for that vendor code, i want a blue medium and large. I select add item and the blue medium.
i go to add item and the search box comes up right where i left off and and add the large.
When the order comes in, I go to the matching purchase order and receive those items that came in and when you receive the items they are added appropriately to your inventory. Hope that helps
Hey there @maleego, thanks for reaching out. Does @jgrgetich workaround work? Thank you again for stepping in @jgrgetich!
Hello there! Thanks so much for reaching out. I appreciate the feedback from fellow Square user jgrgetich as well.
I may not be understanding, but I do not think this helps my concern.
When you type an item into the search bar, we can use my item "dress shirt," it lists ALL the variations under this item...all the colors its available in and all the sizes it is available in.
What my suggestion is that there should be a way to see a particular variation...if I type dress shirt black...it should populate only black variation under dress shirt for me to see what we have available quickly to order or modify as needed. Furthermore, if I want to narrow it further, such as dress shirt black medium, it should allow me to only see that one variation.
From what I am seeing is the search only allows for the category to be found, dress shirt, and as soon as you put any other description such as the variation, it populates no item.
Another useful feature would be to see the quantities, on the dashboard and on the register, for each location simultaneously. In the dashboard you must select the location and it will show the quantities, but not in tandem.
For example, I have three stores...I want to see who has XYZ shirt in black size M...
It could be that store one has 0, store two has 4, store three has 2. In this case, if I can easily see it in one glance, I know to bring 2 pieces from store two to store one, so that each of my stores has 2 pieces each.
In the dashboard it shows you have a total of 6 available OR you can view each store individually.
While this is not a big deal when you are looking at one particular item variation, it can be very tedious if you are wanting to see a large group of items in one glance. Again, for example, zip up sweat shirts...if I see all the colors and sizes in one hit as it pulls up, but also showing the quantities broken up between stores in separate columns, I can see which store has zero and right next to it what stores have extras to do transfers between the stores.
Hope this helps and makes sense.
I came over from Quickbooks and there were several such features that made things easy which are not on Square...might be a learning curve or possible areas for making Square even better.
Thanks!
