Stock History - Show transaction link to find sales or customer

We have asked about this a couple of years ago and it doesn’t look like anything has come of it but here is what we are looking for as a feature that we think is really needed.

 

If we go to an Item and click on View Stock History or if we go into Inventory Management and click on Sale Detail, all it shows you is how many were sold or amount that has changed. This is pretty useless knowledge other than telling us what changed. But if we are trying to figure out who bought it, there is no way of seeing this unless we meticulously go through every transaction to find where and when it was sold. 

 

Sometimes we have a customer that comes in and we have to look up when they bought something. Going through their Activity is a painful process because we use the Loyalty and Marketing programs to it shows everything as a long list that is not searchable. If there was a way to have transactions as clickable links in the Inventory Management or Stock History, it would make finding things a lot easier.

 

Other situations where this comes up is we notice we have 5 less of an item on the wall and we want to know where, when and to who they went. When we used Quickbooks POS we can run a report on an item and see every single transaction detail of that item, not just a grouped together summery of +2 here and -5 there. We can clearly see that we have more or less on a wall but we want to know more details that are easily looked up.

 

Hope this feature is looked into. Maybe others can take advantage of this.

Thank you @blacklabimaging  for your feedback and detailed post. What a great way to create a use case for our Square Stock history. These examples will provide a clear understanding to our product teams of what is needed for a business like yours.
