Stock Count of units

Hello, As a bar and bottle shop, we have inventory set up as Carton, 6 packs and singles with unit conversions.

Can i do a stock count selecting the different units? I have already set up the bar codes for each unit but when I scan it only recognizes the default being the carton but this doesn't give me an accurate stock count if I don't have a full carton.

Hi @Mukahotel,

Thank you for your patience while we got back to you!

What you've described is the expected behaviour when scanning in a barcode to perform stock counts, as the system defaults to the primary stocking unit (e.g. carton), not the selling unit.

To address this, you can manually search for each item variation by following these steps:

1. From the navigation bar in your Square for Retail app, tap Inventory.
Note: If you’re using Square for Retail on an iPhone, tap the list icon to access Inventory, then tap Stock Overview.

2. Tap Adjust Stock > Count.

3. Tap the search bar at the top of the screen, and select the appropriate variation > tap Add to List.

4. Tap the item variation to input a quantity using the number pad > tap Done.

5. Repeat this process across all applicable variations.

6. Tap Continue > Confirm.

Let me know if this helps answer your question, or if anything else comes up! 🙂

Hello Laurie

Could you possible send me a some screen shots of you procedure as I can't seem to follow it? I'm a visual person.

Im using my Iphone and go to stock overview but don't see the adjust stock section.

Do you think this is something the developers will look at fixing in the future?
