Square for restaurants slow

Hi ther,

 

We are a cafe and have recently changed from Square for retail to square for Restaurants. 

We’re finding Square for Restaurants to be super slow and impacting our time to serve customers. 

For example in Square for Retail when you select a category it immediately appears on the screen. In Restaurants there is a slow sliding transition that takes time to complete. 

This is also true for when loading item modifiers I can’t seem to find a way to turn off these transitions. Anyone having the same experience?

Hey everyone,

 

We've just made the change from Square for Retail to Square for Restaurants. 

 

We've noticed that where Square for Retail used to transition to Categories instantly Square for Restaurants has a slide transition that is noticably slower.

 

Is there anyway to turn this transition off?

Where are you noticing this delay? Square Dashboard, Terminal, Register or the Restaurants app?

Some of this does sound unusual, but it's difficult to pinpoint the issue without more information. To get a clearer picture of what's happening, please reply to the following questions:

  • Can you confirm the model of your iPad(s)? (e.g., iPad - 9th Generation)
  • Is the delay occurring on multiple iPads or just one?
  • Can you attach a video showing the lag on your affected iPad(s)?
  • Please conduct an internet speed test on one of your iPads connected to the same network and provide the download/upload speed results.
  • Do you have the latest iOS and Square software installed?


To update your iPad’s iOS software:

  • From the iPad’s home screen, tap Settings > General > Software Update.


To update your Square for Restaurants app on iPad:

  • Open the App Store.
  • Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
  • Locate the Square for Restaurants app from the list.
  • Tap Update.

From my experience, there is a half a second delay after touch in all my devices - Square register, Square Stand and standalone iPad. Super frustrating when there is a massive queue of customers. If I had known about this before I signed up, I would have gone with another POS system.
