Square KDS (Kitchen Display System) Basics and Discussion

Looking into squares kds system which would eliminate lost tickets and then upfront I’m currently using the sq terminal as my pos. 
any insights as far as how this works, best equipment , mounting hardware screens etc.  I also have any to create an online store that we could allow only for preorders for certain events.  Anyone use this system on their truck? Any concerns ? How did you learn the capabilities? I’d love to chat a bit more.

Hi @Slideonby21, thank you for reaching out. We are excited to hear you are interested in using Square KDS! Thank you @maxpete for jumping in as well!

While I don't have personal experience using KDS on a food truck, I definitely can go over some of the basics to answer some of your questions. With Square KDS you are able to manage, monitor, and complete orders using digital tickets (instead of traditional paper tickets and kitchen printers). This helps ensure orders stay organized and coordinated with a direct connection between the front and back of house, digitally.

An important consideration regarding devices is that Square KDS is compatible with Android Devices, here is a bit more information on that and a list of those devices. We also offer device mounts for easy visibility and use on your food truck. Those options are available through our Shop.

A big perk of KDS is that you are also welcome to give Square KSD a try, as there is a 30-day free trial available. After the free trial ends, a monthly $20 subscription cost will begin. Our Square KDS Systems Article may be a great place to check for all the basics about KDS Systems, there even is a super helpful FAQ at the very bottom of the page as well.
