Search Transactions by ticket name

We use Square for Restaurants. As a coffee shop, we do hundreds of tickets a day, and name nearly every one of them with the customer’s name. We would really like to be able to find a closed transaction by searching for those names as there’s no other way to easily identify the transaction quickly. Am I missing a setting somewhere to be able to do this?

Are you already using your Customer Directory?

Thank you. Yes, I am aware of this and we do have a customer directory. But, this is not the solution I am looking for. Many of our customers, especially this time of year, are tourists. They do not necessarily sign up. The real need is to quickly locate a ticket/transaction (usually within the last hour) by being able to search for the Name we entered manually right before payment is taken on the register. When we go to the Transactions list on the Register, that specific piece of information is not associated with each transaction. I would request from Square that it’s something to add as a simple way for us to quickly find a previous ticket. Even if we recently had 4 tickets named John, we could at least look through only those fairly easily, thanks for your time.

Is this for real? I just started square for restaurants today and had customers walking out because I literally could not locate their check. I figured I was doing something wrong. Is it even possible that a pos system could exist without being able to search the checks by name? How can this be? I mean, when someone comes back an hour later and says they paid for something that they didn't receive, how can I check? When I need to retire a ticket from someone's checks from earlier in the day, how can I find that check? When someone calls in and asks me to email a receipt to them for cash paid order from earlier in the day, how do I look this check up? There are countless reasons I need to search checks by the name the customer gave us on a daily basis. This has to be possible. Please tell me it is and I was just making a mistake this morning
