Saved Carts and New Carts for same Customer

Below is what we would love to see implemented, but in the meantime, we wonder how other sellers, who use Saved Tickets/Carts, minimize the problem of carts being created and saved and then a new cart for the same customer being rung up with the original cart being left behind. 

 

What we would like to see is the ability for the system to recognize that there is a Saved Cart/Ticket when a new Cart is started for the same customer.  It would be great if it alerted "There is a Saved Ticket for this customer.  Would you like to work with that Ticket?".  Or something along those lines.  

 

Since carts can be Merged together (as long as you see that there is more than one cart), it would be great if the system could alert that there is more than one active cart being created for the same customer and proactively ask us if we would like to merge them.

 

We Add Customer to every Cart/Transaction.  Our guests come in and are seated at a table and choose from our "menu" what project they would like to do and we create a cart for them and save that cart.  They can add other items to their cart as well throughout their stay.  When they are all finished (typically about two-hour table-turn time on average) we pull up their saved cart and ring them up.

This works great.

 

Sometimes, especially when we are busy, and customers may come in for table service in the open studio, and then migrate to the classroom, and then to the clay room, staff may not realize that they were already in one area or another and inadvertently create a new cart and check them out without pulling in the existing cart.

All I do is create cart Dave.... then if Dave is adding more items add to Dave.... If he wants as a Second Transacation save cart as Dave 2 for example.   Maybe that will help you out.

Yes that is what we do too. I just wish that those times when somebody comes up to the counter and there's been a shift change and they're asking if they can purchase something that if we try to start a new cart that it'll tell us that we have an existing cart under that customer. 

 

90% of the time it's not a problem because we know that the customer has a cart but if they're going to different rooms and they're doing different things and they're there for 8 or 10 hours in a day and shift change happens and all kinds of things sometimes the team doesn't realize that they already have a cart saved. So it'd be really nice if the system would recognize when we add customer and try to create a new cart that there is an existing cart already under that customer.
