Ongoing Reporting Discrepancies Between Dashboard and POS

We've noticed a consistent discrepancy between the sales reports generated on the Square Dashboard and those from the POS. Specifically, when we run a daily sales report (defined as 4:00 AM to 3:59 AM the next day), the results from the Dashboard are significantly different from those on the POS.

Despite reaching out to Square support multiple times, the issue remains unresolved.

This inconsistency is a serious problem for our accounting team, as our bookkeepers work remotely and rely solely on the Dashboard. For accurate financial reporting, it's essential that the Dashboard and POS yield consistent data.

Why has this issue not been addressed by Square? Accurate and aligned reporting is fundamental for proper accounting, and the current discrepancies are unacceptable.

This may be a long shot , but look at the setting to see if you’re including all checks or closed checks. If your including all checks then your total will show unpaid tabs, and even abandoned orders and carts. Once you close out all tickets and orders by either marking them paid or deleting them. Then your sales reports will match. That’s what worked for us.

I agree with @MountainHouse here. Do check that reporting is counting all checks.

Also, you say your daily sales report runs from 4AM-3:59AM. Is this a defined time on your reporting? When you're on the reporting page on the dashboard, are you using the All Day dropdown to specify the hours? Square's reporting is midnight-midnight by default, and if you don't specify your times this is what all reports will show.

Additionally, when it comes to transfers, do remember that transfers are based off banking hours: all sales before 5:00PST will transfer next day while sales after that time will transfer in two days. Your reporting will show all the sales midnight-midnight however (unless you specify times).

That's where I'd start: make sure your POS and the dashboard are both looking at the correct timetables plus accounting for every check in the system. If it's still off, please let us know and we will continue to troubleshoot!
