We just upgraded from FreshKDS to Square KDS and the register is no longer prompting to enter a name for the ticket and/or grabbing name from Credit card.
This is a bug since FreshKDS used to use a "printer" for kitchen tickets and Square KDS does not
So no names are printed on tickets

I reached out to the Restaurants team on your behalf and they let me know that they're still working on introducing this functionality.
For now, it's only available for printers.
Well then let’s hope they waive the fees since this is a bug.
It's not a bug @joco it's just not a feature that's released yet for Square's KDS.
Yes it is a bug. As you can see they advertise it as a feature. Just look at the image in their website. It shows the names on the tickets.
I'm frustrated by this, too. We found that if we print tickets, we still have the capability of capturing the customer's name, and it displays on the KDS ticket as well. I came here hoping that we simply hadn't figured out where the proper settings were, but ashc's reply makes me believe it's not possible for some reason. I hope they fix this soon, as I'd really like to eliminate the wasted cost of printed tickets now that we're using KDS.
