Multiple Locations

Hi

I have 3 individual businesses that all use the Square System. Currently I am using 3 different square accounts, but all monies get transferred into the same bank account.

My question: Is there a way I can only use the 1 square account for all 3 businesses as well as knowing which transactions are from which location? Therefore only logging into the 1 account, see all three business reports etc instead of logging into 3 seperate accounts? Maybe when the monies get transferred in the reference it says 'DEPOSIT SQUARE MELBOURNE AU PTY LTD' ??

Its important knowing which transactions are coming from which location therefore if the day comes to sell I can bring up a report etc

Hope this makes sense..

Thanks

Dan

Hey Dan @wiggychop 👋

If you're running three different businesses, having three accounts is definitely the right way to go. We recommend using locations in case you have stores in different locations, e.g Arie's Bar Sydney, Arie's Bar Melbourne, and so on.

You can add a transfer tag to each of your accounts to make differentiating where which transfer is coming from easier. This tag will be included in your transfer descriptions. Here's how:

1. In your Dashboard, head to Business Information > Locations

2. Click on your business name and scroll to Bank Information.

3. Add a Transfer Tag and click save once you're done.

4. Repeat for each of your accounts!

I hope this helps, please let us know how you go!

Hi Arie,

Thanks for that info, I have now set up the 3 different locations.

Now what happens with the other 2 Square Accounts which I've been using that has all my business information, reports, years of history? These are 3 different account using 3 different log-ins.

Is there a way to migrate the other accounts so that I don't lose all the information into this one now?

We don't have a way to merge Square accounts at the moment, @wiggychop

You can keep your other 2 accounts open to always have access to the Dashboard, and also download a report with your transaction history via this guide. If you have any subscriptions, e.g Square for Retail or Square Appointments, make sure to unsubscribe via the Subscriptions section of your Dashboard in the account you're no longer planning to use.

Alternatively, you can deactivate the accounts you're not using anymore via these steps. Keep in mind that deactivation disables dashboard access. There are account-keeping fees, so if you'd like to be able to access the Dashboard in the future, there's no charge for keeping the accounts open.

Lastly, you'll want to make sure that all your locations are signed into the same account. On your Point of Sale, tap More > scroll down to Sign Out. When you sign back in with your credentials, you'll be prompted to select which of your locations you'd like to choose.
