Modification Menu Need to charge for Extra but not charge for "No, Side....etc.

Item: Waffle

Modification Menu: Contains all ingredients for waffle, with Conversational Modifications enabled

Example:

Server One

1. Server Orders a Waffle

2. Selects Modification Menu

3. The Guest wants No Walnut Butter (No charge)

4. Guest wants Xtra Berries (charge)  (only charge is when its Extra)

Server Two

1. Server Orders a Waffle

2. Selects Modification Menu

3. No Berries

Result = When they ring in Berries it still charges.

My work around was making two Berry Buttons 1 that says Berries and one that says $$ Berries $$

I have instructed my servers to hit the $ when they need to charge for it.

But this will be impossible to have every button $ or no $ depending if its Extra or not on all of my items. Example:

Any thoughts? Can you enable Extra (in conversational modifiers) to be what signals to charge.

How do you all get around this? Thank you, Marie

Hey there @homesteadsb

This is a great suggestion.  I recommend you submit a Feature Request here. This will help our product team get visibility and track other Sellers with similar interest in your request.

Important: When submitting a request, make sure to include the desired feature, and provide the details of how this feature will help your business succeed (how would you use it and what you expect from it).

Thank you, so there is no work arounds or solutions currently other then adding an extra charge button to every individual item?

In regards to workarounds, other Sellers have disabled conversational modifiers and configured modifier groups for Sub, Extra, On the Side, and Lite, then added the respective modifiers with or without charges there. After doing so they instructed their staff on how to use the modifiers.

I hope this information is helpful @homesteadsb

So, basically your answer here is that restaurant owners that have purchased your software, specifically made "for Restaurants," are having to turn off functions you have created only to have to create tedious workarounds to make this restaurant-specific app actually function properly for restaurants? Did I read that right?

Modifiers are INCREDIBLY important and it seems that the Square team has not made any adjustments or upgrades in at least TWO years. These functions are necessary and the lack of concern from the Square team is pretty upsetting. After struggling with this ridiculously unintuitive program, supposedly designed specifically for my needs, for almost THREE years now... I'm beginning to believe it may be time to seek out a better POS system.

Who designed this app, by the way? Were restaurant owners even involved?

*sorry to hijack your post Homestead, but geez.*

I totally understand where you're coming from @TriforksEmpire

The Square for Restaurants product team works on features based on our Seller's feedback and it has been that way since Square for Restaurant's inception. What I offered here was something that other Sellers have done in a creative way while this feature gets implemented. I in no way believe this is the solution to this request but a mere suggestion to achieve your goals while our team works on prioritizing other features that may have a higher demand in the Restaurant industry. Again, I am not saying this feature is less important than another. Your business needs are important and that is why we recommend visiting our Ideate-Feature Request boards so you can voice your business needs and add your use case to other existing features.

All this is to say your opinion matters and is 100% heard. Thank you for taking the time to reply here.

Keep 'em coming!
