Large Order Settings Limited

Hey @Square , I am hoping you can change a feature on your Online Ordering. In the advanced settings the only qualifier for setting a limit is by items.  Since in a restaurant this can vary greatly on what exactly and how quickly it can be prepared (entrees vs. beverages vs. sides. vs. desserts), I'd like to see some enhanced functionality.  Can you add a dollar limit per order, or a max. amount of items per category (like only 10 entrees per order)?

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I can see how having more flexibility in setting order limits, whether by dollar amount or item category, would help manage large orders more effectively in a restaurant setting.

 

There is no update on this at this time, and this would be considered a feature request. Right now, the only available option is limiting by total item count, however, I suggest submitting this request on our Ideate Board. This helps our team track interest and consider improvements in future updates.

 

In the meantime, you might consider adding a note in your Online Ordering settings or item descriptions to communicate any limitations on large orders.

The Square Online team is working on several order customization options and different Order Limits are part of the improvements in the works. I don't have any updates to provide at this time but stay tuned!

+1 for this request/idea

 

We are a small coffee and sandwich shop and would like to put a limit on large orders by dollar amount as well, or allow us to extend the pickup timeframe for overs over a certain dollar amount. Here is the use case:

 

We can set preparation times for various food items - great but when someone places an online order, after hours for $500 worth of food and drinks, they are shown that it will be ready 15 minutes after we open the next day. There are two problems with this situation.

 

1) We have to check our online order every night and/or very early every morning (ie: 3:00am)

2) Then we have to go in early to prepare $500 work of food to be ready for pickup 15 mins after we open

 

We can't be the only Square small business customer with this challenge.

+1 on this as well as we have enough modifiers and add-ons to result in large dollar amount orders despite being under our individual count.
