Hello, we are fairly new to square. We are trying to build our inventory via adding items. However, there are three people in our store that contribute different items to our inventory and I’m not sure how to make sure that each person gets credit when someone buys their item and how we might be able to run a report to see how much each person sold.
what is the best way to do this. is it by creating three vendors, and then assign each item a different vendor, but will that pull a report?
I never thought of having people as a Vendor as you mention but I just pulled a Vendor Sales Report. This did show my items being sold by each Vendor with a Total and then if you click on the Vendor it shows what Item(s) were sold.
Create the 3 people as 3 Vendors.
Then when you create a New Item make sure you click the Link to Add a Vendor. Then in the Vendor Name Box you can either start Typing the 'Vendor' or tap the arrow and get a list of vendors to choose from or you can create a new one if needed.
So lets Say you have a vendor TiffanyF, This vendor makes 30 items, when you add TiffanyFs Items just select her as the Vendor. This vendor can have 1 Item or 1000 items and will show in the report correctly. This works also if TiffanyF, StacyL, WendyW all sell soap an the items are all under the same category of Soaps.
You can even export your Vendor sales as a csv file to open in Google sheets, Excel or Apple Numbers.
To see this report on a computer Sign into your Business Square Account, Tap Reports > Inventory Reports > Vendor Sales
This will then Show the total sold for Each Vendor. If you Click on a Vendor that has an arrow next to their name you would see all items they sold if you have their items named differently or with a GTIN or SKU for a Scanner to see. My csv file showed each item sold for each vendor sorted by vendor. with the csv you can sort by vendor or any other column you like.
Thank you for suggesting this and this I think works better than what others including my self have suggested in the past.
