On the last update the ability to go back and make changes after selecting pay was removed. Now if the customer changes their mind after you hit pay, but before they’ve paid, and you go back, there’s only the price down the bottom. You can add something, which will come up under “main addition” or “entree addition”, but you can’t see what’s on the check, or select and edit any of the order. No matter how often you ask people, there’s always those who have forgotten something, or change their mind before they’ve paid. The ability to alter it was there before, is there a way to change it back? If not, is there a work around? I can’t for the life of me work out why Square would take this away, it makes no sense, and is incredibly frustrating. I’ve had to dump orders of multiple people and start all over again. Please put it back!

Once you've selected 'Pay' on a bill in Square for Restaurants, you cannot directly edit the items on that bill. In our online guide for closing a bill, we recommend confirming the order and reviewing the bill details before proceeding with payment. However, I understand that in the real world, this isn't always how things play out.
If you need to adjust a bill after payment has been accepted, you can issue a refund for the transaction and then create a new one with the correct items. Here's how you can handle this:
1. Refund the Payment: If there was an error with the bill, you can refund the payment from the Square for Restaurants app.
2. Create a New Order: After refunding, you can create a new bill with the correct items and proceed with the payment.
In the meantime, I'd be happy to escalate your use case to our Restaurants Team to inquire about the recent updates to the app.
