Inundated with low-value orders - Fraud?

Hello Square friends. Wondering if anyone can help me get to the right place. Over the last 36 hours, we've received 13 orders (most coming in since this morning) that are very low dollar value and most have a recipient name that does not match the ordering-person's name and the email address is a completely different name. Often the customer is spending more on shipping than on the item itself. We've preemptively canceled the orders as they appear to be fraud. I can not get through to anyone at Square to help discern how these are skipping fraud filters. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice as I don't want to keep paying square for processing fees on transactions fraud should have caught.

As an aside, I was chatting through the bots and was transferred 6 times. Finally gave up.

Not that it helps you, but isn't it crazy that phone support has only gotten worse over the last few decades, with all the new tech that was supposed to make it better for us?

To your question, That does sound suspicious but without knowing your traditional averages and such hard to say for sure.  If it is real, they would try again or call likely.

Haha. For sure. 6 transfers in the Chat Bot. Tried calling, two transfers only to be told I needed to talk to someone in Risk Management and they don't work on weekends (totally ok with me). But three days later, no promised call-back. Received email follow ups that were basically just cut/paste from how-to pages for using Risk Manager.

I will say, the event was scary. Thousands of fraudulent orders were attempted through our website over 4 days. Square or banks stopped nearly all of them. My website has never seen traffic like that! The 30 or so orders that we had to cancel were just the tip of the iceberg. Very clearly a stolen credit card processor attempting to test the cards.

That is crazy.  Fraud is so widespread.  Somehow, your website got to be the "Lucky" one they were testing cards against.

Good luck
