In person online sales.

I know this sounds like a contradiction of terms, but I would like to offer items for sale on my website that once selected and paid for, the customer can message me to arrange a pick-up time. I just went live with my knife sharpening service. Knife sharpening is a skill that one must practice constantly to maintain and improve your skills. I currently buy used knives at resale shops in bulk. I now want to offer them for sale at a discounted price of half my normal sharpening fee. The current deal I'm offering on these surplus practice knives is $5 a piece, 5 for $20. How do I set up the volume discount?

Flow chart: Customer selects which knife and/or knives they want to buy. After completing the shopping cart, I need a message sent to me informing me which knives I need to pull out of inventory and ready for pick-up. Once I have the order prepped, I need to use the contact information the customer gave me during checkout to arrange a time to have them pick the items up.

If there's a moderator reading this. I noticed a beta program testing Google Local was being offered back in May of this year. Is this beta test still running? Once I get this issue resolved, I think my site would be an ideal candidate if it is.

Hello @Jayv2251 thanks for your post. Your business sounds very interesting, as a nonprofessional but love to cook person, great knives and kitchen tools make all the difference. Good luck to you and i hope you do well! As far as your question, you should setup options to enable "pick up" in your online store. See this post here. If you enable pickup, you can have your customers choose from pre-selected days/times and you'd have the ability to see what was ordered and when they'd like to pick the items up.

I'm not sure about the Google Local offering, but in any case as a new business make sure you set up a Google My Business page. Just "google" Google My Business and you'll find how you create and setup your Google business listing. Also leverage social media like Facebook and Instagram to help build and promote your business.

Charlie, thanks for that information. Unfortunately, that doesn't work for me. While I will have some nominal sales, the majority of my business is sharpening items. Therefore I need to arrange a time for drop off. Once an item is finished I can then contact them to arrange a time for pick up. The current system only schedules a time for pick up AFTER the service is paid for, but I haven't completed it. In simple terms, it provides a pickup time for their knives, before they've dropped them off to me.

My Google listing is WHY I built my page. I can't accept phone calls at home during business hours. My wife works from home doing hotel reservations. Needs absolute quiet while she's working. Can't have my phone ringing randomly. So when I was creating my Google business page I had to stop where you either provide a website address or phone number. I did go live with my site a few days ago, so I've completed Google business, and Yelp and linked my Facebook business page to everything too.
