I need our add on purchases to be "items" or variations instead of "modifiers"

I have an enhancement request that would be helpful for both Square for Retail, restaurants that track inventory and for Square Online. We offer add ons to items currently using modifiers. This would be so much better if we had the option to "add on" items or variations instead of "modifiers". Here are some examples of why:

1) Increases sales, but screws up our inventory bc modifiers aren't tracked. So for example, if we sell a charcuterie board in store or online and offer add ons for honey bears, fig jam, specialty crackers, etc each add on is a modifier bc there is no option for the modifier to be connnected to an item or item variation. So each honey bear added and each box of crackers must manually be "lost" from inventory (creating more work and a lot more headache bc it gets busy and people forgot so inventory for items that are also modifiers is perpetually wrong bc modifiers aren't connected to the items being added on.)

2. When the item price changes, the modifiers are not automatically updated and so the prices are all different in each modifier versus the actual item unless we remember and find all the instances where the item was added as a "modifier".

Hello @SavoryGourmet

This sounds like a great feature request. To appropriately send these to our product teams we’d love it if you'd submit this request on our Ideate page for Square Point of Sale. Our team monitors these boards, and we triage them to measure needs. You can search the boards to see if this has been requested before and add your use case if so!
