How to update site visibility settings on the Square Dashboard's new Edit item page.

The title of this thread has been edited from the original: What happened to visability setting in items edit?

I'm trying to use the new item edit form and I can't find item visabilty.  I use it to hide items out of stock.  I also set up items in advance of reciving them and keep the items hidden until I phyically have the items avilable to ship.  It use to be near the boittom of the edit items page but now does not appear anywhere.  Anyone know of another place you can change the item visability?

I tried to get help in support but it seems to be wonky right now.

Site visibility is still available via the new Edit item page. Here's how to locate this setting:

1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard, and go to your item library.
2. Click on an item to bring up the Edit item page. 
3. On the Edit item page, on the right hand side, you should see Locations and channels.
4. Click the Edit button near Channels
5. You'll then see Site Visibility on the next page that pops up.

@bonsaisteve When you click on sales channels at the top right, the visibility setting is there.  As a note, you have to have an online site checked before it shows up, since you can't hide something from something it isn't available on.

Thanks for the reply.  I tried what you suggested but I think we are talking about 2 diffent things as I did not see item availablility after clicking on channels.  The only thing that happened was it made me sign up for Google sales.

What I'm looking for, used to be in the actual listings and you could choose visable, hidden, or unavailable for each item.

I finally found it.

i find it really irritating that Square has gone out of their way hide the features I use most in a different location.  I’ve had to spend a lot of time lately  relearning how to manage my store. There was absolutely nothing wrong with where it was before.  
I guess it’s just busy work for the IT crew.

Anyway I appreciate the help!

@bonsaisteve I understand where you are coming from, when it is working right, these changes are a distraction when you are busy.  The overall changes that the online dashboard are going through, overall are better in a lot of ways.  The visible/unavailable was just on the scroll down before, but the theme seems to be going to where you don't have to scroll near as much.  I use archive a ton now, and I would complain if it wasn't available as quick on the main item page.

 

If you want a quicker shortcut, when you are on your item list, check the box on the left, go to bottom right and hit actions, and site visibility is right there, and you can bypass the loading delay of the item page.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work for me. I don't see Site Visibility when I click the Edit button near Channels.

@freethinkerstx Make sure you actually have the site checked, it doesn't show if the site channel isn't selected.

I am having a problem with this as well. I found the Availability setting after the update but I feel like they did another update and it's now gone. Am I wrong? I have a screenshot of this but it won't let me upload it.

The current process for updating site visibility for individual items is as follows: 

1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to your item library
2. Click on an item to bring up the Edit item page
3. On the right-hand side, look for Channels and visibility
4. Click the Edit button next to this section
5. A panel should appear with a dropdown list for Site Visibility, offering options: VisibleHidden, and Unavailable

No, this is not what I am seeing on my end. I tried both Safari and Google Chrome thinking it might be a browser issue but it appears the same (on my end) on both browsers. This is what I see when I click Edit button. I have no idea which items are live on my site when I'm viewing items in Square Dashboard. It appears that this thread is marked, "Solved" and this is still an issue. Please let me know if you need more information on my end or more screenshots. Thanks- LisaImage 2-18-26 at 11.32 PM.jpg

This is not working for me:

 

1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard, and go to your item library.
2. Click on an item to bring up the Edit item page. 
3. On the Edit item page, on the right hand side, you should see Locations and channels.
4. Click the Edit button near Channels
5. You'll then see Site Visibility on the next page that pops up. - THIS STEP DOES NOT EXIST! If I click on channels and visiblity all i get is a check box - and it doesn't indicate if that item is hidden or unavailable - it's JUST A CHECK MARK with no explanation.

I've had to resort to saving it - and returning to the master item list and checking "update site vislibility" via actions. THIS IS AN EXTRA STEP. With thousands of skus, this is so frustrating.

The Square Dashboard and item library have gone through several recent updates, which has resulted in some settings being relocated. Let me clarify the current process:

 

1. Sign in to your Square Dashboard and go to your item library
2. Click on an item to bring up the Edit item page
3. On the right-hand side, look for Channels and visibility
4. Click the Edit button next to this section
5. A panel should appear with a dropdown list for Site Visibility, offering options: Visible, Hidden, and Unavailable

You mentioned you're only seeing a checkbox without any visibility options. Would you be able to share a screenshot of what you're seeing? You can upload an image by clicking the camera button in the reply box.

 

If you could share more details about your specific workflow needs, I'd be happy to suggest alternative approaches beyond using Actions > Site Visibility.

For example, you might find it helpful to use Filter by > Site visibility before selecting Actions > Update site visibility to narrow down items with the same online visibility status.

You can actually do this pretty simply in bulk. Go to the items screen and click the checkbox next to each item you want to update. Then that will expose some options at the bottom of the screen. Click on the “Actions” button and you will then see the option for “Update site visibility”.

Click that option and on the next screen update the items to the setting you wish.

Thank you, I am aware of this as an option. I prefer to enter the visibility of each item as I enter the item and not add an extra step. Also, the thumbnail pictures are pretty small on my laptop (my only computer) and I have trouble making sure I'm selecting the correct item.
