How to set up Coursing in Square for Restuarants

The title of this thread has been edited by a Square Moderator from the original: "Creating a 3 Course Meal"

Hello, our city is having "Restaurant Week" and we're offering a 3 course meal for $35.  Is there a way that we can set this up so that the server can choose the selections for each course and fire them when ready?

Welcome to the Square Community, @VinoGrotta ! My name is Violet and I'm one of the Community Moderators. I'm happy to provide you with some information on Coursing with Square for Restaurants 🙂

Coursing is a feature built to help you and your team manage the flow of checks for both the front and back-of-house. Coursing is designed to easily group items and append additional items before sending to your printers and kitchen displays. It also lets the kitchen know when to hold or start firing dishes. (Learn how to add advanced capabilities here.)

Coursing is an optional setting, so you’ll need to enable coursing from your Square Dashboard. To do so:

  1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Device management > Modes.
  2. Click Add mode and select standard, quick service, full service, or bar mode.
  3. If applicable, adjust the mode settings > Save.
  4. With the mode selected, click Manage under Settings.
  5. Click Checkout > Coursing.
  6. Toggle ON Enable course management.
  7. Set other Coursing preferences and click Save.

Once you’ve enabled Coursing and set up your custom-named courses, you can start adding courses to your check.

You can manage more coursing settings for each location from your Square Dashboard:

  1. Sign in to Square Dashboard and go to Device management > Service settings > Courses.
  2. Use the filter box to select your locations.
  3. Add or edit courses.
  4. Select your printed hold/fire courses preference.
  5. Click Save.

You earn more about how to set up coursing for checks here.

I hope this information is helpful but please do let me know if you have any additional questions!
