How do I create different modifier price points

I run a coffee shop, setting up my menu, I have different sizes for instance on my drinks, so I created an option set called "Sizes," each of my drinks have different price points. From the POS, when I select a drink it immediately appears in the guest check window instead of allowing me to make selection of the size. I have to select the item from the check window and then select" edit" in order to be able to change size option. How can I set my options up to be a required selection? Hope I am making sense, spent over an hour on phone with technical support with no help. Thank you.

You'll need to add item variations when creating the item.  once there is more than one variation then the dialog box will come up asking you to choose an item (sm, Lg, etc).

I believe the options are for online stores.
