I screwed up this past weekend and forgot to change the mobile location we were at. Now everything reports as sales from the wrong location. How can I change the location tag for a transaction or set of transactions (like everything from a day or time period) to represent a more accurate sales count?
thanks
-Bob
@naroescape1 Well, the short answer is you can't. The only way to do it would be to refund and recharge all the transactions which wouldn't be practical.
The good news, you can always fix it on the back end with your accountant at year end. I have seen this done quite often as does happen when you have to declare certain things etc.
Unfortunately, it will probably have to be a manual fix. I think it is more of a security and integrity thing with the system and accountability to preserve true financial records.
That's what I was afraid of. I only set up the mobile locations to help me figure out where we do better or worse sales and thought it would be an interesting exercise to see. With them wrong, it's useless now. I don't do that in our accounting software (Quickbooks), just when we're on the road at events. Oh well....back to just using one location for everything.
@NaroEscape You can always just run a combined location report and use that for your total sales if you are doing the business under just one company.
You can also use the date/time function if you need to break those sales out. Or you could even set up a device code and use it to track just for that sale, or dedicate 1 tablet or whatever for those sales.
Thanks, but none of them will work or would be a huge PITA.
We sell racing gear at the track. We go to 7 tracks, many times on back to back weeks/weekends. I set up each track as a mobile location and was hoping to be able to run reports to see how sales are at individual tracks, but I forgot to change the mobile location at the last track we were at until we’ll into day 1 (and lots of sales).. so now all the numbers from that weekend are way off with some sales being attributed to each location.
And of course it was a huge sales weekend…our best ever…
@NaroEscape Ok, totally understand now. You know, thats still an awesome problem to have, better than the opposite.
Good luck to you!
