That's a great question. We haven't done it as averages but have charged the actual half cost of a pizza. So for example if soomeone orders a half margherita and half supreme, the price the customer is charged is half of a margherita + half of a supreme + we charge $3 for making a half half (You don't have to do this). Here's how we have done it.
We created an item called Half & Half. It's avaialble on all of our locations and channels.
Then we have the Choices set as "Modifiers". So for example:
Half and Half Left Side (L) - Then we have set up each of our pizza choices with a price which is exactly half of the normal price for that pizza. Example Margherita is $10, Garlic Cheese is $9, etc.
Half and Half Right Side (R) - Again we have set up each of our pizza choices with a price which is exactly half of the normal price for that pizza.
First Half - Add (L) - We have given customers the choice to add items to the first half like extra cheese, Vegan Cheese etc. All of these additions would be priced at half of what they would be for a full pizza.
Second Half - Add (R) - Same as above but for the second half.
First Half - Sauce Change (L) - Our customers can choose to change the sauce on each half of the pizza-Tomato sauce, Olive oil and Garlic Etc
Second Half - Sauce Change (R) - Same as above.
First Half-Tick to remove (L) - This allows people to remove any toppings they don't want to include in their pizza.
Second Half-Tick to remove (R) - Same as above.
Now you don't have to set this up exactly the same as we have, however, I wanted to show you how we have done it so you can choose to set it up in a manner that works for you. Each of the modifiers (In Bold above) is set up specifically for the half & half pizza, and you can have the modifier prices adjust the price for you for example for the extras it can add an amount, but for the removals we don't remove the cost but you could I think (I just tried and it didn't accept a negative amount so this may not work). However, as a half and half takes longer to make and can reduce customers orders from 2 pizzas to one we charge for additions and we also charge an additional fee $3 for making it.
