End of year counting software

Is there an "End of Year" counting software that is compatible with Square?  I am currently using my Square inventory list and physically counting items to make sure they coincide with my square inventory.

Hey @SnazzyDancewear

I would recommend searching on our App Marketplace. In it, you will find companies that have decided to integrate with Square.

I hope this information is helpful!

@SnazzyDancewear ;

That is basically what you would have to do with any Inventory software at some point is Physically count your inventory to make sure it matches what is in your Square Account or any other software that keeps track of your Inventory.

If you use Square for Retail you can use the Square feature for counting Inventory. :

If you come up with a way to Count inventory without actually physically counting it, PLEASE let me know!!  The reason the physical Count needs to be done is to verify the Count in Square matches what is Physically available for sale.  Items might get damaged or lost or Human error plus theft can all effect what is Physically available to sell.   This is the discrepencies that need to be found by doing the Physical count.

Now Square has a Cycle count feature that lets you count portions of your inventory a little at a time every so many days so at the end of year you should be very close on your physical counts.   Now for this year it might be too late to impliment this cycle counting practice, but after your Physical count is complete this time, you have a Great starting point to stay on top of it for next year.

Some of my Suppliers actually close the last 2 or 3 weeks of December into January just to count their Inventory.  In Retail we do not have that option.

Thank you for your quick reply.  We have thousands of items in inventory.  I was hoping to section up the store and other stock to scan into some kind of inventory system.  Then I can go through and manage discrepancies.  So far all that I have found in the Square system is downloading my inventory onto spreadsheets and physically counting the items leaving room for error.  There should be a way to scan barcodes into an inventory system and have the system categorize and count the items.

With this Link : 7401-inventory-counting-with-square-for-retail

There is information on using a Barcode Scanner with Square for Retail to Count inventory.  The link also has a few videos on how this works.

From the link above:

Cycle count with a scanner or camera

  1. From the navigation bar in your Square for Retail app, tap Inventory > Stock counts.

  2. Tap Count stock > Cycle count.

  3. Use acompatible barcode scanner or the built-in camera on your iPad or iPhone to scan the item.

  4. Either continue to scan item duplicates individually, or tap the item list on the screen to input a quantity using the number pad. Then, tap the check mark.

  5. Repeat this process across all applicable variations.

  6. Tap Next > Confirm.

You can save or cancel a cycle count at any time by tapping the X icon next to Stock count in the corner of your screen. You’ll see a pop-up that says Save Changes, and you can either save and close or discard without saving.

Note: Progress will only save on the device used to count inventory, meaning you can’t access a saved count from another device, even if the device is logged in to the same Square account.

I found out that I was using the wrong Square retail app.  Now I am breezing through the store scanning tags and it's going 100% faster.  No spreadsheets.  Thank you everyone for your help!!
