Does Square POS run well on Android?

I am confused, the KDS system is going to be moving to Android only.  I have been using iPads.  I just placed an order for new iPads but if Androids work with the entire Square system then I am going to cancel my iPad order and get Androids.  iPads are expensive and not very durable. Anyone using Android?

Many of our Sellers use Android-based devices, and the Square Register and Square Terminal both use Custom Android operating systems. I recommend giving any of the Compatible Devices a try.
