I run a food truck and have found the standard POS to be sufficient for our use. The restaurant version have too many features we have no need for. Also, in my off season I work at a tavern, they also just use the standard version. They only thing I see with you using the standard and doing call ahead is payment. Are you collecting at the time of the order or pickup? We also use KDS with the standard POS and it wont go to the KDS until payment is received, but I think you can change the setting for that.
