Do I need a paid Square for Retail Subscription to use a physical Terminal?

I used Square years ago with a phone swiper.  I am reactivating my account and was supposed to be able to use it as the payment processor for a Square Space website and in store retail, but I'm super confused.  I don't want to pay a monthly fee, just transaction fees and purchase a small terminal.  I'm lost.

I'm really sorry to hear the frustration regarding reactivating your account. It sounds like you downloaded the wrong app. You will need to download the Square Point of Sale app and not the Square for Retail app. That will fix your issue. 🙂
