Disappearing Features/Permissions

Hi,

 

I work in the IT department for an organization that uses Square for Restaurants in our bistros and bars. Recently we've had a few complaints about certain features going away that had previously empowered these locations to support their own evolving environments, but I can't seem to find any information about why these were removed or ways to implement them back. 

 

One such example is floor plans. We don't allow full device management because the IT department needs to be in control of these devices, and we've had instances of people not knowing what they're doing causing problems. This wasn't really an issue before, as we were able to grant access to edit floor plans without full device control, however that no longer appears to be the case. This is putting extra work on the IT department, which isn't great when you have 17 locations across 4 states and a centrally located IT department.

 

Another example is editing item counts in the POS. Previously just about any role we had created was able to hold their finger on an item and manually adjust the item count. This was great for a busy restaurant that has not only a main restaurant floor, but also various rooms for events. It kept everyone aware of stock limitations with zero extra effort. Now, suddenly, the only way to update item counts is on the dashboard? This doesn't seem to be tied to a permission, because my full access Admin account can no longer do it.

 

For both of these things, I see no permissions that would allow us to empower these locations to better manage their operations. I see no detailed patch notes for any release, so we end up blind sided by these changes (which is quite astounding in this day and age for any software company, much less one the size of Square).  It really does feel that an already lacking app is becoming less useful as time goes on, and I can't find any information to get this functionality back. Does anyone have any insight into either of these issues, or can maybe help me identify the permissions I'm looking for to resolve these issues? Or is this just the reality of the app?
