We make customized product, all items are already in inventory. Is there a way to use items as a modifier or attribute to build the custom unit?
Example:
Charm bracelet - you select the size
Then choose from 3-5+ additional stocked items (each with their own cost) with the end result being a customized bracelet unique to that buyer. (and could it be set so that buyer's bracelet gets it's only unique SKU?)
If that is doable, how do I set it up in Square Retail or via the dashboard? (I'm a newbie, please be kind.)
It is semi do able in Square. You can create the Items like you have, then after the Customer Customizes their Bracelet. Create a Bundled Item. The big issue is Bundled Items can not be made up of various items for the customer to choose right now. So like in your example:
You could create a bundle of:
Then when this Bundle is created it would have its own Unigue SKU : BU66879 with a total price You set.
As I stated before if the Bracelt was SKU CB78976 instead of SKU B12788 you need a new bundle same if it had charm 5 or XXX instead of exactly Charms 1,2,and3.
So like I have Bundles of soaps lotions etc that have unighue Barcodes and scents, I can not even use if Item is from Liquid soap category, I need to choose the Mango Liquid Soap. So coming up with every variation possible I am not sure it is possible to start with but if your trying to have customer Build a Bracelet with Charms and Track a Bundle for them to make for someone else that is posssible.

Hello @IMI-LLC ! Welcome to the Square Community!
I think your best bet would be to look into bundling the items. This way inventory is tracked across all the items.
Here's a help file on how to set those up.
Hope this helps!
I must have been typing as you posted the Bundle idea also..... great minds think alike. 🙂
