Creating new items no longer applies sales tax by default

Not sure when this started but whenever I create a new item from scratch (not through duplicating it), the item is created without sales tax. This behaviour is different than past behaviour where the taxes were applied automatically and had to be removed if necessary. I can't find an option anywhere to turn this back on. Anyone have a workaround?

I'm having this EXACT same problem and I'm NOT happy about it.

You have to go in an reset the default taxes to apply to all existing and future items OR specific items. If you set to all existing and future, you can't just toggle off taxes for specific items like you could in the past. If specific items you either have to choose everything then un-click the items that don't need tax.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with how it worked before and now it's broken and causing problems.

I hope Square corrects this issue soon.
