We serve small, free canapés to dinner guests. We have a "Canapé" item (at $0.00) that servers add to the guest's order and fire when a guest is seated, so that the kitchen knows to prepare it. However, we'd prefer if the "Canapé" item doesn't show up on the guest's receipt. Is this possible?
Hey there @SJF. So, no, that is not possible -- at least not the way you are describing it. All items added to a transaction are printed on receipts. Your long term solution is to submit a new feature request. Of course, even if this is accepted it will not be available anytime soon. I do have a workaround you might be able to use.
Just have your servers can create a check that only contains the free Canapés, then just pay it out to cash since it is zero. They can then open another check for the rest of that table's order. Yes, I understand this will in effect double your transaction count, but that is the nature of a workaround -- it is not going to be perfect.

Got it — and your idea is essentially what we're doing now — we're splitting off the canapé to a new check, and closing it out to cash. Just looking for a more streamlined solution. I'll submit a new feature request. Thanks for your response!
