Can I have two names for one product? As in, One for inventory and one that appears on the website?

We have certain abbreviated names for our products that we would like to keep on using. But it is not visually appealing to have the abbreviations on our website. Is there a way to edit the names on the website? 

I tried going in via Edit Website and clicking on a category. When the item came up under the category I tried to click the edit button to adjust the name but then a box pops up asking me to refresh the page and then nothing happens. 

Any suggestions?

@theoldtownshop You might could use the SKU and GTIN to do this for you so you can track the items, but also you might try custom attributes to put that name on the items.  We have kitchen names under restaurants that let us do some of that.
